We have been deep in the throes of an east coast family visit with lots of adorable activities like firefly catching and sticky ice cream hands, but I couldn’t wait another minute to tell you what I’m up to so I will make this short, sweet, and to the point!
I’m doing some exciting events this month!
First up is called We’re All Chickpeas, a culinary experience through the Levant // June 12th 7-10pm in Highland Park.
Anju is hosting me for one incredible night where I will cook a meal rooted in the deeply humble chickpea. Along with a smattering of other dishes that highlight the way in which this prolific legume has impacted the scope of human history. Fun fact: domesticated chickpeas were found in pre-pottery neolithic sites (let that sink in) so we are celebrating this incredible ingredient the right way. This event will be hosted by and in conversation with vibes connoisseur and my dear friend Judith (Juju), owner of Anju and Luca in Highland park.
What to expect: delicious food, my homemade pita (IYKYK), tea, a talk about sourcing chickpeas and cooking with them, their history, and music to round out the vibes. If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Anju yet, it is both a beautifully curated store and an inspired gathering space. Juju and I are beyond excited to share some good food and stories with all of you while we cook a memorable meal in your presence.
