I am thrilled to have so many upcoming projects to share with you! Of course this newsletter, (for which I have a million ideas), is a big part of that. Plus, new merch dropping next week, plans for in-person kid friendly cooking, Nap Snacks the Cookbook, pita production and THIS
VIDEOS !! Not just any videos. Really spectacular and adorable videos where I cook or bake with Loosha and by doing so YOU get to cook or bake along with us! Everybody scream!!!
It’s funny (funny uh-oh, not funny haha) that social media has turned us all into monsters when it comes to our collective attention spans. Do you know how hard it is to take 45 minutes or even an hour of cooking footage and transform it into 60 seconds or less of quippy, informative, and engaging content - with an original and unique voice to boot? This is something I’ve become skilled at, but recently I started to ask myself - who is this really for? Are some of us actually exhausted from scrolling mindlessly through these apps and only having the bandwidth to receive instant gratification dopamine hits? Is anyone else beginning to long for a time when their attention span was more adaptable? Where a full length movie or a long podcast didn’t feel like a waste of energy. Myself included!
As a content creator, it feels like we must whittle down all of our hard work, all of our recipes, our personal stories into something so cute and tiny and bite-sized in order to garner any attention at all. To fit the mold and work with the models we are given and in the end we leave a lot out of the picture.
I guess what it boils down to is this: I can consolidate much of what I do into nifty soundbites and fast moving jump cuts, and I will continue to do so when it’s applicable. But here with you, in this safe space, I want to begin sharing all of the long-form roomier versions of what I am up to these days. Because sometimes that is where the good parts reside. In the in-between zones, in the slower moments, in the chaos, in the pauses, or in the breaths we take. Expect more videos of me and Loosha in the kitchen licking spatulas full of batter or sampling our own pickles. “CRUNCHY!” - Loosha
And…
If it wasn’t already clear, thanks for being here (wherever this is) with me.
