We did a BRAT MouthBrain Session, and it was giving Tim Walz hopefulness🍏
does that get your attention? lol
MouthBrain Session 8/4/24 🌽🍇🍋🍑🍆🍅🍦
This week’s group rocked out a really cool collaborative menu full of bold flavors and truly inspired combinations. We bonded over stories and feelings of hope - I found myself thinking about our conversations days after.
Because each event contains different ingredients and people, the improvised recipes really do reflect that particular group’s collaborative efforts.
One guest this week called these sessions “anti-dinner parties”, and I kinda love that. For me, they are like my live action thesis and the culmination of so many iterations of food and togetherness that I have been practicing and honing over the years.
The heat of the day hadn’t quite dispersed yet when we gathered in my backyard last Sunday. Sweaty and sticky, it made sense to lean into the heat instead of fighting it, we decided - hence the BRAT themed French Morning Melon Gin & Tonics with Jalapeño simple syrup. There was definitely a messy party girl kind of chaos to it all.
We chatted around the ingredient table - abundance laid out before us, and crafted ideas like toasted pistachio herb butter and baba ganoush corn on the cob. There was our signature labneh ranch over a gorgeous pinwheel mandala of gem lettuces, concord grapes, and pickled cucumbers, and what felt like a very natural combination of kimchi and cod. Desert was a celebration of summertime madness with peaches and corn in two different ice cream flavors, (thanks mike!) One vanilla swirled with peach rosemary jam and one made with condensed milk, velvety fresh corn puree, and sprinkled with corn nuts on top (recipe below for paid subscribers).
I like to think BRAT summer and Tim Walz are glimpses of the energy to come. We all need a little hope and belief that things can be better. My goal is always to create spaces for connection over good food, and I’m looking forward to more and more MouthBrain Sessions in the coming weeks (will post about those tickets here and on IG soon).
Here is how we made our crowd favorite Baba Ganoush Corn on the Cob AND this no churn Corn Ice Cream with so many Corn Nuts - it’s a no brainer win/win and tastes exactly like corn pops cereal!!
